University Medical Center of Southern Nevada Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation

10.15.2021

Stueve Siegel Hanson, a national leader in data breach and privacy cases, is investigating potential claims against the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada resulting from a data breach that exposed the protected health information of 1.3 million patients.

The University Medical Center of Southern Nevada recently announced that on June 14, 2021 its systems were compromised “by a well-known group of cybercriminals that seek to use the information for commercial gain.” A forensic investigation confirmed that the hackers gained access to files containing patients’ protected health information including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health insurance information, financial information, and some clinical information, including medical histories, diagnoses, and test results.

This information can be used to commit any number of frauds, including draining your bank account, committing identity theft, or misappropriating your funds. Affected individuals are now at serious risk and should take immediate action.
