Court Approves $2.3 Million Settlement for Nearly 700 Tipped Workers at Mount Airy Casino Resort

Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP announced that the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has granted final approval of a $2.3 million settlement resolving wage claims for nearly 700 tipped employees at Mount Airy Casino Resort. The settlement provides over 98% of the workers’ alleged unpaid wages. The average payments are significant and proportional to class members’ damages. Net of all fees and costs, the average settlement payment is more than $2,100.

Firm partner Alex Ricke was quoted in Law360 commenting that “We are happy the court granted final approval because it will allow meaningful payments to be distributed to these workers.”

The settlement resolved claims that the casino violated federal and Pennsylvania wage laws by failing to provide required tip credit notices and allowing certain dual-job workers to participate in the tip pool, among others.

This case is the most recent example of the firm’s commitment to representing tipped and minimum wage workers at casinos. The firm’s recoveries in such cases now exceed $75,000,000.

Stueve Siegel Hanson served as class counsel alongside McClelland Law Firm PC. The case is Mak et al. v. Mt. Airy #1 LLC, No. 3:25‑cv‑00238 (M.D. Pa.).
