NKC Health (North Kansas City Hospital) Patients Affected by Oracle Health/Cerner Data Breach

North Kansas City Hospital, operated by NKC Health and serving patients across the Kansas City metropolitan area, has been identified as one of the healthcare providers affected by a significant data breach involving Oracle Health (formerly known as Cerner Corporation).

WHAT HAPPENED WITH ORACLE HEALTH (FORMERLY CERNER)?

The unauthorized access to legacy Cerner servers began around January 22, 2025, and was discovered on February 20, 2025. Oracle Health and healthcare providers continue to notify impacted patients.

Given that Cerner Corporation was founded in Kansas City and maintained deep roots in the region, the breach carries particular significance for the local community that the company long called home.

WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED?

The breach may have exposed names, Social Security numbers, medical records, and clinical information of patients. This type of exposure can lead to identity theft, medical fraud, and other long-term financial and personal harms.
