Marriott Data Breach Lawsuit Impacting 500 Million
On November 30, 2018, Stueve Siegel Hanson filed a class action lawsuit against Marriott and Starwood Hotels in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland after the hotel chains announced that the personal information of up to 500 million Starwood hotel guests was compromised as part of a four-year long data breach.
Marriott has acknowledged that for approximately 327 million of its guests, the stolen information includes some combination of name, mailing address, phone number, email address, passport number, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) account information, date of birth, gender, arrival and departure information, reservation date, and communication preferences. The stolen information may also include payment card numbers and payment card expiration dates.
