$90 Million Settlement for More than 70,000 USAA Policy Owners

In Spegele v. USAA Life Insurance Company, Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP represented a policy owner alleging that USAA Life Insurance Company improperly overcharged its policyholders by including unauthorized charges in its cost of insurance charge in violation of the contract. The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas certified a nationwide class of over 70,000 policy owners in 2020, and the lawsuit settled soon thereafter for $90 million.
