08.15.2018

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – August 15, 2018 – Patrick Stueve has been named a 2019 “Lawyer of the Year” for Bet-the-Company Litigation by Best Lawyers in America.

Best Lawyers in America recognizes just one lawyer in each practice area and community with the “Lawyer of the Year” designation; Stueve, a founding partner of Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP, represents Kansas City, Mo.

The 2019 edition of Best Lawyers in America also lists Stueve for antitrust law and commercial litigation. Based on peer review, the publication aims to be the “definitive guide to legal excellence.” Stueve has been included in Best Lawyers in America since 2013.

The “bet-the-company” recognition follows a period of significant litigation success for Stueve. In June 2017, he and his co-lead counsel obtained a $217.7 million jury verdict on behalf of Kansas corn farmers; it was ranked the 10th highest verdict in the nation for 2017 by the National Law Journal. In March 2018, Stueve – serving as co-lead and class counsel in related multidistrict litigation – filed for preliminary approval of a $1.51 billion settlement with Syngenta. If approved, the $1.51 billion settlement fund will pay eligible U.S. corn farmers, grain handling facilities and ethanol production facilities. It would be the largest agricultural settlement in U.S. history.

Practicing nationwide, Stueve has prosecuted claims against some of the largest companies in the world in state and federal courts for Fortune 500 and large privately held corporations as well as small business in the areas of antitrust, intellectual property, securities fraud and other commercial torts.
