Partner Norman Siegel Named Co-Lead in Capital One Data Breach Litigation

Judge Anthony J. Trenga of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia has appointed Normal E. Siegel as Plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Counsel to represent consumers in the Capital One data breach litigation. Norman is an experienced data breach attorney and has led many of the most significant data breach cases litigated to date.

Stueve Siegel Hanson filed a class action lawsuit against Capital One in July 2019 following the public announcement of a data breach. The company stated that a hacker exfiltrated nearly 30 GB of Capital One credit application data that included the personal information of approximately 100 million people in the U.S. and 6 million in Canada. The cases were then consolidated by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation and transferred to the Judge Trenga for pretrial proceedings.
