The Kansas City Business Journal recently profiled the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit's decision to uphold a $34 million jury verdict obtained by Stueve Siegel Hanson and Miller Schirger LLC against State Farm Life Insurance Co. on behalf of a class of 24,000 policyholders.

The case, Vogt v. State Farm, alleged that the insurance company breached the contract with its policyholders by overcharging through cost of insurance provisions, using non-mortality factors which added fees to the monthly premiums beyond what the contract stated.

Partner Norman Siegel is quoted telling the publication that he "hopes this concludes the case so the money finally can be sent to policyholders who were damaged."
