Norman Siegel Named Among Missouri’s Most Influential Lawyers

03.05.2020

Missouri Lawyers Weekly honored Stueve Siegel Hanson partner Norman Siegel in its 2020 Missouri Lawyers Awards, which recognize lawyers who made an impact during the prior year. Siegel was selected as an Influential Lawyer – a category that is “awarded to the newsmakers, those Missouri lawyers who made substantial contributions to the legal community this year.”

Siegel was profiled on his 2019 highlights that earned him recognition in a special section of Missouri Lawyers Weekly available here (subscription required). Among those featured:

  • Leading the team that secured approval of a $1.5 billion settlement with Equifax in a nationwide class action resulting from its infamous 2017 data breach. As co-lead counsel and chair of the Plaintiffs’ settlement committee, Siegel engineered a settlement that the court described as “historic” and larger than all previous settlements in data breach cases combined.
  • Obtaining a $3.25 million settlement in a class action by optometrists following a data breach at the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, the national testing organization for new eye doctors. The resolution provides financial benefits and credit monitoring for 61,000 class members and a commitment by the NBEO to bolster security practices.
  • Being appointed lead counsel in litigation against Quest after a data breach; co-lead counsel in litigation involving a data breach at Capital One; and representing consumers after a years-long data breach at Marriott.

The publication quoted Siegel on his successes from the year saying:

“Certainly a lot of things came together this year, no doubt about it,” Siegel said. “It’s a function of a lot of hard work by not just me but so many others. A lot of the building blocks to that success were in the making for several years, in some cases.”
