Partner Appointed to Packaged Seafood Multidistrict Litigation Leadership Committee

SSH Partner Jason Hartley was appointed to the leadership committee in the Packaged Seafood MDL.  Jason was appointed to the steering committee by Judge Janis Sammartino in the Southern District of California in MDL 2670 on behalf of the class of direct purchaser plaintiffs.  The case alleges an antitrust price-fixing conspiracy among the country’s largest packaged seafood and canned tuna producers, including Starkist, Chicken of the Sea and Bumble Bee.  The case implicates over $10 billion of U.S. commerce.  Chicken of the Sea has applied for amnesty with the federal Department of Justice in its related criminal investigation, which itself requires an admission of antitrust violations.
