Matthew Elliott

Attorney

Overview

Matthew Elliott represents individuals and businesses in complex litigation, bringing experience from both sides of the courtroom to develop focused strategies for his clients.

Before joining Stueve Siegel Hanson, Matthew represented plaintiffs and defendants in a range of commercial litigation and arbitration matters, including corporate, employment, construction and intellectual property disputes. He managed cases from their early stages through pretrial proceedings, taking and defending depositions, appearing in court, working with expert witnesses, and briefing dispositive and other significant motions.

Having represented clients on both sides of disputes, Matthew understands how opposing counsel evaluates a case, develops defenses and approaches litigation strategy. He applies that perspective to identify potential challenges early and build persuasive arguments grounded in both the facts and the law.

Matthew also brings an uncommon technical perspective to his practice. Before becoming an attorney, he worked in advanced materials engineering at Honeywell, where he led a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt project. His engineering background informs the analytical, methodical approach he brings to complex factual and technical issues.

Matthew earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where he was a member of the National Moot Court Team and UMKC Law Review and received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Intellectual Property Law and Mergers & Acquisitions. He has continued developing his advocacy skills through the KCMBA Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy and Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers Trial Academy.
