Overview
Stefon David represents plaintiffs in complex litigation nationwide, with a focus on data breach and privacy, antitrust and employment, and personal injury matters. He works extensively with healthcare providers, consumers, and employees in high-stakes disputes. Stefon has played an instrumental role in several major national data breach cases, including actions against some of the country’s largest companies.
Data Breach & Privacy
- Change Healthcare MDL – Represents healthcare providers of all sizes, including medical practices, hospitals, and health systems, in claims arising from the 2024 cyberattack and prolonged service shutdown that disrupted eligibility verification, claims submission, and payment processing.
- HealthEC Customer Data Breach – Member of the team that secured a $5.48 million class action settlement on behalf of patients of multiple healthcare entities.
- North Kansas City Hospital/PJ&A Vendor Data Breach – Represents patients in Missouri state court class actions arising from a vendor-related data breach. The matter has been resolved pending final settlement approval.
- Comcast/Xfinity Data Breach – Key member of the litigation team that obtained a $117.5 million class action settlement on behalf of millions of customers.
- Medical Management Resource Group Data Breach – Member of the team that secured a $1.75 million settlement involving ophthalmology practice entities.
Antitrust & Employment
- Tobler v. 1248 Holdings (D. Kan.) – Served as Settlement Class Counsel in securing a $25.5 million class settlement on behalf of more than 4,000 asset and wealth management professionals. The case involved claims that American Century and Mariner entities conspired not to hire, recruit, or solicit one another’s employees.
Personal Injury
- Represents clients injured at the 2024 Kansas City Championship Rally, pursuing liability against event planners, premises owners, and firearms retailers.
Litigation & Trial Preparation
In addition to his class action and personal injury practice, Stefon maintains an active litigation practice in federal and state courts. He has drafted and argued motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, motions in limine, jury instructions, and verdict forms, and has successfully argued complex discovery disputes. He also prevailed on a Rule 23(d) motion, obtaining court supervision over defendants’ communications with absent class members.
Before joining Stueve Siegel Hanson, Stefon practiced at Shook, Hardy & Bacon as an associate in the firm’s general liability litigation group. He handled high-stakes matters involving product liability, commercial disputes, and multidistrict litigation. His work included drafting dispositive motions, managing discovery strategy, and advising corporate clients on litigation risk. His experience at Shook sharpened his analytical skills and deepened his understanding of large-scale litigation, forming the foundation for the strategic, client-focused approach he brings to his practice.
Stefon has been named among The National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 and recognized as a “Rising Star” in class action law by Super Lawyers. He serves on the Board of the Greater Kansas City Northwest Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross, reflecting his commitment to service beyond the courtroom.
Outside the practice of law, Stefon enjoys exploring local restaurants and shares his experiences through a food-focused Instagram account highlighting the Kansas City dining scene.
