SharesPost Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation

On December 20, 2019, SharesPost, an online marketplace for trading digital securities, announced that it suffered a data breach affecting applicants of a SharesPost investment fund.

SharesPost disclosed that between September 6 and 18, 2019, an unauthorized party gained access to a SharesPost employee email account containing copies of shareholder applications for the SharesPost 100 Fund. The applications included an extensive amount of sensitive personal information including shareholder names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, contact information, and in some cases, bank account information.
