Stueve Siegel Hanson wins Practice Group of the Year

For the past nine years Law360 has profiled the practice groups that worked on the biggest deals or achieved the biggest wins in the most important cases. Those with landmark matters and general excellence in the industry are honored. In 2018, Law 360 selected 185 winning groups across 38 practice areas and Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP was chosen under the Food and Beverage category.

2018 was a big year for Stueve Siegel Hanson with the final approval of a settlement that is thought to be the largest agricultural litigation settlement in U.S. history. Syngenta was being sued for selling a strain of corn seed called Viptera to U.S. farmers starting in 2011, before it was approved by China for corn imports. This resulted in U.S. corn farmers being effectively locked out of the China market until the corn strain won approval in 2014. Patrick Stueve was court-appointed co-lead and class counsel on the massive case which reached final approval in December with a settlement of $1.51 billion for U.S. corn farmers who filed suit against Syngenta.
