Stueve Siegel Hanson Adds Two Attorneys to Nationwide Trial Practice

Stueve Siegel Hanson welcomes Alexander T. Ricke and C. Curtis Shank to the firm as associates. The pair will focus on commercial litigation matters and serve clients nationally from the firm’s Kansas City office.  Ricke’s diverse practice includes handling complex litigation “bet the company” cases and prosecuting business and class action claims around the country. Shank hails from an AmLaw 100 firm where he was a commercial litigator and previously clerked for a United States District Judge.

“We continually strive to recruit the brightest legal talent in the Kansas City area,” said Partner Pat Stueve. “Both Alex and Curtis not only bring legal prowess and passion to the firm but they are both a great cultural fit. We’re pleased to have them onboard our team.”

Ricke previously litigated business and class action cases in state and federal courts throughout the country at a boutique litigation firm in Kansas City. He represented plaintiffs in nationwide class actions for antitrust violations, wage and hour violations, defective products, and deceptive practices. Ricke earned his Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri in 2009 and earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2012. He is an active member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.

“I’m really excited to be collaborating with some of the area’s most respected trial lawyers,” said Ricke.

Prior to joining Stueve Siegel, Shank practiced commercial litigation at Byran Cave, and gained invaluable experience serving as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Daniel D. Crabtree, United States District Judge for the District of Kansas. Shank earned his law degree in 2013 from the University of Missouri School of Law, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, and served as a Note and Comment Editor for the Missouri Law Review. Previously, he graduated with his B.A., summa cum laude, in Economics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2010.

“Stueve Siegel Hanson’s trial reputation attracted me to the firm,” said Shank. “I look forward to using my defense firm experience and applying it to plaintiffs’ work.”

Recent Stueve Siegel successes include final court approval of a $2.25 billion settlement of a class action lawsuit against a national life insurance company over alleged life insurance policy charges impacting 77,000 policy owners across 30 states. SSH lawyers also took lead in securing a significant settlement for consumers against a major retailer after a 2014 data breach compromised the payment card data of 40 million U.S. customers and email addresses of 52 million U.S. customers.

About Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP

Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP was founded in 2001. The firm includes 40 lawyers and represents plaintiffs and defendants nationwide in complex securities, business, class action, wage and hour, environmental, and product liability litigation and trials. Stueve Siegel Hanson employs results-based contingency fee billing – not hourly billing – to give clients the flexibility to pursue legal action even when that action wouldn’t ordinarily be cost effective.
