Mo. Lawyers Weekly Recognizes SSH for Three Largest Out-of-State Settlements
Missouri Lawyers Weekly, the state’s legal publication of record, recognized Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP for obtaining three of the top four largest out-of-state settlements in 2015.
The settlements include:
$131 Million Settlement With Sprint
Investors represented by SSH and co-counsel reached a $131 million settlement with Sprint resolving claims arising out of the merger between Sprint Corp. and Nextel Communications. The suit alleged that Sprint, former Chief Executive Officer Gary Forsee and other company officials made misleading statements that artificially inflated the value of Sprint’s securities.
The case is Bennett et al v. Sprint Nextel Corporation, et al, U.S. District Court District of Kansas.

$44 Million Settlement in Collapse of Financial Firm
SSH settled a lawsuit arising from the collapse of the Peregrine Financial Group and the alleged fraud committed by its CEO and sole owner, Russell Wasendorf, Sr. In its lawsuit, SSH and its co-counsel allege that U.S. Bank and JP Morgan Chase Company negligently assisted Peregrine and Wasendorf in the scheme to misappropriate more than $200 million of customer funds.
The case is In re Peregrine Financial Group Customer Litigation, U.S. District Court Northern District of Illinois Eastern District.

$10 Million Class Action Against Target
SSH and lead counsel for the consumer plaintiffs in the Target data breach litigation reached a settlement with Target Corporation providing monetary and non-monetary relief to class members. In addition to the $10 million settlement, the retailer agreed to improve its data security practices.
The case is In re: Target Corporation Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, U.S. District Court District of Minnesota.
