Ashlea graduated from Kansas State University, suma cum laude, in 2004, with a B.A. in Mass Communications and German. While at K-State, Ashlea was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Golden Key. She received her J.D. from the University of Kansas in 2007. Ashlea was awarded the James P. Mize Award for Trial Advocacy and the Robert F. Bennett Award for Public Service upon graduation. She clerked for the Honorable Judge Julie Robinson, United States District for the District of Kansas from 2005-2006.
Ashlea primarily practices in wage and hour litigation representing employees in unpaid overtime and minimum wage cases. Currently, Ashlea represents a number of classes of call center employees against employers such as CenturyTel, Inc., APAC Customer Services, Inc., and Citigroup in actions to recover compensation for “off the clock” work in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Additionally, Ashlea represents several groups of employees affected by the recent mass layoffs occurring around the country for violations of the Worker Adjustment and Retaining Notification Act (“WARN Act”).
Prior to joining the firm, Ashlea was an associate at the Miller Law Firm in Kansas City, Missouri, practicing in construction and commercial litigation. She is a member of the LAKC, KCMBA, AWL, and Missouri Bar Association.
