Overview
Stueve Siegel Hanson has filed a wrongful death action on behalf of the surviving family of a long-time employee at the Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical facility adjacent to the San Diego Airport. The surviving family members claim that Wayne Hopkins died of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma as a result of his exposure to benzene and other chemicals that have been found on the Teledyne Ryan site. Mr. Hopkins's family has sued the owners and operators of the property including Teledyne Ryan, The City of San Diego and the San Diego Port Authority. The site has been used for decades for industrial purposes and the contamination of that site is well known. Over the past few years, the site has undergone extensive remediation for elevated levels of toxic substances, including benzene. The lawsuit comes on the heels of litigation over the past decade over who is responsible for the cleanup of the site.
